TipsEnergy EfficiencyResidences: The greatest energy savings is gained by selecting a highly energy efficient air conditioner, refrigerator, and washing machine. Be sure to choose appliances with the "Energy Star" rating which is designated by the U.S. EPA for high efficiency appliances as these will save you money and protect the environment. Most new refrigerator and front-loading washing machines already meet the Energy Star standard. However, other appliances such as top loading washing machines may not. For air conditioning systems, the choice of a S.E.E.R. rating (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Rating) higher than 10 will result in greater savings. Commercial offices: The greatest savings occur from the use of fluorescent task lights and Energy Star rated office machines.
