I have an older Victorian home and have been told that I have knob and tube wiring in the attic. Is this type of wiring safe?

February 26, 2008 - February 26, 2009
In a few limited situations, the code allows this kind of wiring. However, in many cases the rules have not been followed properly and this type of wiring is found to be in violation of the code. Local inspection authorities usually recommend that this type of wiring be completely removed and replaced with modern wiring methods.
